The Yemeni Parliament in its meeting Saturday, chaired by Speaker Yahya al-Ra’i, approved amendments to some articles of Law No. (2) for the year 1999 on Zakat.
The Parliament’s approval came in light of the report of the Joint Committee from Committees of Finance, Justice, Endowments and codifying the provisions of Islamic Sharia, which is charged with studying it, and after discussing it and voting on it.
The amendments aimed at developing the resources of Zakat and addressing the deficiencies in procedures of calculation and collection of these resources during the last period.
