Undersecretary of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority Raed Jabal has confirmed that the US-Saudi aggression coalition continues to impose a complete blockade on the airports of Yemen.

In a statement to Saba, Jabal indicated that the countries of the aggression have sought to paralyze air traffic at the Republic’s airports, especially Sana’a International Airport since March 26, 2015.

“In the face of this crime, the CAMA constantly taking the necessary measures that would ensure the safety of air traffic within the framework of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO),” he said.

He added, “One of these measures is the announcement by the pilots, which is published by the authority every three months, that all airports of the republic are open to commercial and international flights, except for the airports of Taiz and Hodeida which they are completely destroyed by the aggression.

It is worth mentioning that the last announcement was published by the CAMA on April 11, 2021.”

He pointed out that the aggression, led by Saudi Arabia, imposes the siege and closure of airports, disregarding all international laws, agreements, regulations, and charters, including the Chicago Agreement, which stipulates that airports should not be closed even in wars.

He said the CAMA has nothing to do with what is being circulated about the announcement of opening or closing Sana’a airport or other airports in the republic.”

The Undersecretary of the General Authority for Civil Aviation renewed the demand for the speedy opening of Sana’a Airport to all flights without restriction or condition.

He added, “The demand to open Sana’a Airport continues, and the announcement of its opening or not depends on the abolition of the ban imposed by the forces of aggression on the airport, which represents the main artery of the Yemeni people and the first gate of Yemen.
