Ali Shamkhani, Secretary General of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has discussed developments in Yemen and the region on Monday, during his meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi.

During the meeting, Shamkhani said that the regional alliances can ensure security in the region without the intervention of foreign powers.

He added that the US cannot be trusted because the it does not abide by its commitments with other countries.

Shamkhani called on Saudi Arabia to “surrender to the resistance of the Yemeni people, and to not put the region at further risk.”

Bin Alawi said Muscat is “always ready to take advantage of its potential to de-escalate tensions in the region and create the ground for a constructive regional dialogue.”

He noted that Tehran and Oman’s positions on regional and international issues are very close.
