On Sunday, Saudi forces handed over the Sarwah front to a prominent al-Qaeda leader who was recently transferred from the neighboring Al-Bayda governorate, central Yemen.

Tribal sources said that the Saudi directives decided to work under the leadership of Muhammad Abdul Qawi Al-Hamayqani, who was recently promoted to the rank of colonel even though his name is on the American anti-terrorist list.

Al-Humayqani started practicing his field duties, according to the sources.

It was not known whether Saudi Arabia was trying to gather its rival factions to neutralize the leadership, or if it no longer had options to prevent Marib from falling into the hands of the army and popular committees forces after recent losses in the ranks of its factions, the last of which was the genocide of Brigade 310 during the Sarawah battles.

Saudi Arabia had recently pushed several battalions of al-Qaeda, deployed in the district of  Al-Bayda governorate, to Marib with the fall of al-Jawf and  Nehim.
