The acts of looting the homes and shops of citizens from the northern provinces have increased recently in Ataq city, the capital of Shabwa province, eastern Yemen.

Human rights activists from the sons of Shabwa stated, on social media, that the UAE-backed militia members of the so-called “Al-Amaliqa Brigades” have continued to storm dozens of homes of the people of the northern provinces in Ataq since the end of last week.

The activists pointed out that the storming operation targeted a number of shops in Ataq, some of which were looted, accusing their owners of belonging to Islah Party (Brotherhood).

Sources stated that some northern workers who had been in Ataq for decades were arrested under regional pretexts.

This comes after the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia took control of Ataq, after confrontations with Islah militants of the so-called “Special Forces” and “Brigade 21 Mika” in the middle of last week, which resulted in dozens of dead and wounded, including civilians, and large damage to citizens’ homes and property.
