May 18th, the government held a meeting today headed by the Prime Minister Dr. Abdul Aziz Saleh bin Habtoor ,discussing procedures to activate and develop the institutional role in facing cholera.
During the meeting, the prime Minister listened to a briefed report by the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Mohammed bin Hafiz on the epidemiological situation of cholera and its latest development in the Secretariat capital and provinces .
The Minister of Health explained that the number of cholera suspected Cases increasingly recorded are about 17, 200 cases until yesterday and 206 deaths cases, and the number of cases are increasing.
The meeting ended by forming a ministerial emergency committee headed by The Minister of Health and the membership of the ministers of Water and Environment, Local Administration, Information Minister, Agriculture and Irrigation, Youth and Sports, Electricity and the Secretary of the capital holding the responsibilities to prepare the national emergency plan to address this epidemic.
