The Human Rights Minister Alya Faisal Abdullatif discussed the cooperation aspects of human rights with the vice president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Carlos Morazani in Sana’a.
In the meeting, the Minister of Human Rights appreciated the efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Yemen and its continued work under the Saudi-led coalition aggression that caused a humanitarian catastrophic at all levels, stressing the readiness of the ministry to facilitate all difficulties for the mission’s work to achieve its goals.
“The ministry received reports from the families of some of the victims who confirmed disappearance of their relatives in the southern and eastern provinces and the inability to reach or visit them, many of whom have been tortured,” she said
The Minister for Human Rights called on the international mission to play a prominent role in this regard, stressing the readiness of the ministry to hand over the mission a file on such communications and complaints to follow-up.
In his part, the vice president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Ministry of Human Rights under the difficult circumstances in Yemen, saying that the mission has received information about these detention centers.
“As a neutral party, the Mission has its movements, which are in accordance with the international and humanitarian laws that determine the nature of its tasks,” he said
He pointed out to some difficulties that hinder the work of the ICRC delegation in the difficult circumstances in Yemen, stressing that the mission is paying all attention and providing support and assistance to prisons to improve the conditions of prisoners.
