The Attorney-General, Judge Abdulaziz al-Baghdadi, met with representatives of the General Forum of the Military and Security institution, headed by Brigadier Ali Mohamed al-Washli.
During the meeting, the General Forum presented a request to the Attorney General to direct the military judiciary, both prosecutors and the court, to initiate criminal proceedings against traitors and mercenaries from the military and security institutions who joined the forces of the aggression and fought against the army and popular committees.
“The Military Prosecution was supposed to act on its own accord in accordance with the law and to take urgent measures. It is a crime of high treason, punishable by the Military Penal Code, with the death penalty and the forfeiture of the accused from military status,” the request note said.
The Attorney-General praised the role of the public forum in confronting aggression, stressing the importance of intensifying all efforts of official and popular institutions to strengthen and maintain the unity of the internal front.
He also ordered the advocate military general prosecution to take the necessary legal measures to investigate and act with those found guilty of any of crimes set forth in the Military Penal Code in force.
