The United Nations and humanitarian partners today launched the 2018 Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan (YHRP) which seeks US$2.96 billion to provide lifesaving assistance to 13.1 million people this year. This is the largest consolidated.
“Nearly $3-billion to save millions in Yemen Needed to Provide Life-Saving Assistance to 13.1 Million people in Yemen in 2018”, Jamie McGoldrick , UN Humanitarian Coordinator said in a press conference in the Yemeni Capital of Sana’a on Sunday.
McGoldrick noted that the Figures of people in need in Yemen are staggering. 22.2M people need aid; half of them are in acute need and need aid to survive.
Humanitarian assistance is not the solution to the plight of the people of Yemen, but it is the only lifeline for millions of them. Today, humanitarian partners appeal to the international community to support this critical lifeline, he added.
“The 2018 Yemen Humanitarian Response Plan asks for $2.96B to target 13M people in Yemen. Humanitarian aid is not the solution to the plight of the people of Yemen, but it is the only lifeline for millions of them,” Jamie McGoldrick said.
“This year’s humanitarian plan is the biggest ever launched. The humanitarian situation in #Yemen is exacerbated by conflict, collapsing institutions providing basic services and rising prices of basic commodities,” he told reporters.
