Yemen Loses 700 million Riyals in Historical sites Sector in Mahwit Province

Yemen nearly lost 700 million Riyals in the Historical sites sector in Mahwit Province due to Saudi-led coalition aggression that target the historical and archaeological sites in the province.

“The Saudi-American aggression warplanes bombed dozens of Yemeni historical and archaeological sites of Shibam Kokban city with direct shelling, including al-Qal’aa, historic gate of Shibam, and the high fences surrounding the city and Zafran park in the same district,” director general of the general authority for the preservation of historic cities in Yemen, Nabil Muqdam said in a statement to Saba News Agency.

He pointed out that the Saudi-led aggression destroyed 11 houses completely, while 150 houses were partially damaged, in addition to losses in the telecoms facility,  Water Corporation building and  Kokban Club headquarters.

He stressed that targeting historic buildings and archaeological sites is a war crime against Yemen, its civilization and its human heritage.
