UN Secretary-General Expressed Concern To Coalition Air Strikes

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his deep concern about the  escalation in Yemen, in particular coalition air strikes on a government building in the densely populated in Al-Threer directorate in the capital, Sana’a.

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, in a statement issued by his spokesman, received a copy of the Yemeni news agency (SABA), all parties to the conflict the need to respect international humanitarian law, including taking all necessary measures to protect civilians.

“All possible violations of international humanitarian law should be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible must be held accountable,” he said.

The Secretary-General appealed to the parties to refrain from further escalation because that had a negative impact on the prospects for peace.

Antonio Guterres noted that a political settlement through a comprehensive dialogue between Yemenis is the only way to end the conflict and address the ongoing humanitarian crisis .
