President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, on Monday, met with the special envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Yemen Martin Griffiths.
During the meeting, they discussed the disastrous humanitarian situation caused by the aggression war and blockade imposed on the Yemeni people since 2015 and the role that the United Nations should play in this regard.
The meeting touched upon the peace process and the efforts exerted to success it, as well as lifting the siege on Yemeni airports and sea ports and allowing the entry of necessary relief and food items to Yemen.
Mr. President stressed the importance of the United Nations to play its role in alleviating the humanitarian disaster left by the aggression and the siege, reaffirming the support of the UN envoy efforts.
In his turn, the UN envoy reviewed the efforts currently being made to alleviate the humanitarian suffering experienced by the Yemeni people.
