Yemen’s Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf met Sunday with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)’s delegation in Sanaa, Franz Rauchenstein.
During the meeting, the minister touched upon the latest developments about the worsening humanitarian situation in Yemen due to the war and all-out blockade imposed by Saudi-led coalition on the Yemeni people.
At the meeting, the officials discussed ways of strengthening and developing a number of areas of cooperation between the National Salvation Government and the ICRC.
Sharaf said that the great efforts played by the coalition’s countries and its militias to block the UN-brokered Stockholm agreements through the cease-fire’s violation in Hodeidah province.
“National Salvation Government is committed Sweden agreements as the first step towards a comprehensive settlement and the return of security and stability to Yemen,” Sharaf added.
The minister appreciated the role played by the ICRC’s delegation in the humanitarian sector, renewing the readiness to provide the necessary facilities for the International organizations operating in Yemen.
Rauchenstein affirmed the ICRC’s keenness to provide all possible support to alleviate suffering the Yemeni people, as well as doubling efforts to implement the prisoner exchange agreement that resulted from the Stockholm agreements
