ِPresident of the supreme political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat has stressed that the phase is a stage of peace, and peace process supposed to begin, referring to Saudi-led aggression against Yemen, which enters its fifth year on March 26, 2019, which has been long overdue if the coalition wants peace with Yemenis.

The move came during an interview with ” Al-Akhbar” Lebanese newspaper which was published on Monday.

“With reason, logic, politics and interest t calculations, we can say that the stage is of peace and it is supposed that the peace process began early and not after all this period,” he said.

The President of the Supreme Political Council added that “the situation makes it imperative for aggression to obey peace, and to continue the war will not be in its interests at all.

He noted that with the calculations of practical experience with the Saudi-led aggression, entering a new chapter of war was the closest expectation of the truth.

“We are doing our natural right to defend our people and our land, and to fight for our freedom, sovereignty, independence, security and stability, and once the attack stops, the defence stops” he added.

He explained that one of the reasons for the failure of the implementation of the Stockholm agreement is the intransigence of the other party and his adherence to issues unrelated to this agreement, and they don’t have right to make decisions.

President said that those who are pushed to the table from all this mixture are mercenaries who are deprived to take any decision, no cause, and cannot enter into real commitments, stressing that the nature and complexities of the situation call for dealing with it on the basis of a comprehensive political solution, which we are constantly advocating.

During his interview, President Mehdi Al-Mashat revealed that the UAE believes it is in their interest to keep Saudi Arabia in a state of sustainable depletion, which is very well known.

He stated that the United Nations should make an end to any party trying to depart from the text of the agreement and not doing so would not serve peace and would not lead to the success of the agreement.

The president warned that the silence of the United Nations encouraged the other side to expand its violations to resume aerial bombardment and gunfire in the presence of its team, adding, we agreed to implement the first phase, then the other party retreated and began to stick to topics not provided for in the agreement.

He further noted that the United Nations has failed to oblige the other party to respect its commitments.

Without our patience and highest degree of restraint exerted by our forces, the other party’s irregularities and breaches would have been sufficient to topple the agreement early.

“The UN envoy is respected, we appreciate his patience with the other side’s procrastination and the inaction of some international parties, and we hope that we and the other parties can succeed in achieving peace, because this is what the region needs, not Yemen,” he added.

“If they are determined to close all the windows of peace, the harshest, most painful, confusing and destabilizing options we have not used so far,” the president of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat concluded.
