Yemenis cast their ballots to fill vacant seats in parliament

453 Polling stations in the capital Sanaa and several others provinces opened on Saturday morning for voters to cast their ballots to select their candidates to fill the 24 vacant seats in the House of Representatives.

Mohammed al-Jalal, Secretary-General of the Supreme Electoral Commission, said the process of receiving voters in polling stations is proceeding normally in the various centres.

He noted that the first voter cast his vote at 8:00 a.m., according to communications from electoral districts and polling stations.

He added that the elections are taking place in a number of circles in the capital Sanaa, Taiz, Bayda, Hadeidah, Dhamar, Mahwit, Hajjah, Saada and Amran provinces.
