The United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, has arrived in Sana’a International Airport on Sunday.

The visit came in the framework of his efforts to save the Stockholm agreement, that was signed by the Yemeni parties to the conflict in December last Year.

Despite the agreement laying out a framework for a comprehensive peace agreement in the near future, and establishing a non-militarized safe zone around the city of Hodeidah, the conflict has mostly continued since.

The Saudi-led coalition has reportedly launched thousands of explosive shells and bombs on and around Hodeidah city, and has continued to fortify its military positions in the area.

Despite continued Saudi and UAE violations, the National Salvation Government of Yemen has continued its vocal support for the peace deal, and has repeatedly asked for increased UN involvement in the peace process.
