The Air Forces of Yemen have on Saturday carried out a major air attack on the King Khalid air base in Khamis Mushayt, Asir governorate.

Yemeni military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e said in a brief statement that the attack was carried out by a number of Qasef-2K drones targeting locations of Saudi military aircrafts and runways in the airbase.

He confirmed that the attack hit its target with high accuracy, inflicting heavy casualties.

“This attack came in response to the crimes of aggression and its continued siege against the Yemeni people,” Sare’e stated.

For its part, air traffic control centers showed the return of a plane that had left from Jeddah and was originally about to land at Abha airport near the King Khalid Air Base, showing a disruption of airline traffic in southern Saudi Arabia.

On Thursday, the Air Force carried out two attacks using a number of Qasef-2K aircrafts, targeting vital targets at King Khalid Air Base.

The first operation targeted the military communications system, while the other was aimed at tanks and the fuel station at the base, causing district casualties.

The Saudi air defences have been utterly and completely incapable of defending King Khalid airbase and Abha airport from Yemeni counterattacks, leading to significant economic strain on the Kingdom, as well as a collapse in morale for the Saudi war effort
