UNICEF Representative in Yemen Sara Beslo Niyanti said that the aggression on Yemen has delayed development and caused poverty, depriving millions of children in Yemen of their right of  education and depriving them of their hope for a better future.

“Violence, displacement and attacks on schools have prevented many children from attending school, with two million children out of school, including half a million who dropped out of school during the years of aggression” Niianti said in a statement.

The representative of UNICEF rejected the fact that education and other fundamental rights of the child were out of reach for children in Yemen, all because of man-made factors.

She added “The education of another 3.7 million children is at stake. Teacher salaries have not been paid for more than two years, and the quality of education is also at stake.”

UNICEF representative called on education authorities throughout Yemen to work together and find an immediate solution to provide salaries to all teachers and staff working in education so that children can continue their education.
