Human Rights Ministry Condemns Marib’s Crime Against the Army and Popular Committees Prisoners

The Ministry of Human Rights confirmed that the torture of prisoners of the army and the Popular Committees to death by mercenaries of aggression in the city of Marib in flagrant violation of the four Geneva Conventions .

The ministry said in a statement that an armed group working in the management of a prison in Marib tortured three prisoners of the army and popular committees of various colors and forms of torture to death.

The statement stated that the perpetrators of this crime did not only do so, but they filmed and published on social networking sites without regard to the rules, provisions, customs and ethics of the Islamic religion and international humanitarian law.

The protection of prisoners and detainees is at the heart of the ICRC’s mandate in accordance with its mandate in the international humanitarian law.

The Ministry held the United Nations and its various bodies responsible for these crimes and violations against the Yemeni people in general and the prisoners held in the prisons of the countries of aggression in particular.

The ministry renew its call for the establishment of an independent and impartial international commission to investigate  all violations and crimes committed against the Yemeni people in general and the prisoners of war from the army and popular committees in particular.
