“A child under the age of five dies every 12 minutes in Yemen because of the humanitarian crisis caused by the war” United Nations said on Wednesday.
This came in a tweet posted by Achim Steiner, the UNDP representative in Yemen, via his Twitter account.
“A child under 5 years of age dies every 12 minutes in Yemen, mostly as a result of lack of water, basic nutrition, health care and medicines due to the conflict,” Steiner said in his tweet.
For the fifth consecutive year, Yemen is in a tragic situation, as a result of the war waged by the Saudi-led Arab coalition, under the pretext of restoring legitimacy, a war that killed tens of thousands of civilians and displaced hundreds of thousands of them.
