Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf had met on Monday with the United Nations envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths.
At the meeting, the officials discussed efforts exerted by the UN and its movements with various countries and parties concerned with Yemeni affairs, aimed at ending the aggression, lifting the siege and reaching a comprehensive settlement.
The minister pointed out that Sana’a has proven to the UN in more than one occasion that is wants a just and honourable peace, and it would continue to defend Yemen and its sovereignty.
Sharaf called on the aggression countries to end the war and lift the siege on Sana’a International Airport and Hodeidah port as a humanitarian step to allow entry to the oil and food tankers.
For his part, the UN envoy affirmed that there are positive signals to pave the way for a peaceful political solution, noting the UN’s readiness to provide all support to reach a comprehensive peace agreement.
