The head of the National Committee for Prisoners Affairs in Sanaa, Abdul Qadir al-Mortadha, confirmed that the coalition and Hadi’s government have reneged on prisoner exchange agreement commitments agreed in Sweden and what has been agreed in the negotiations in Amman.
He confirmed that they (coalition and Hadi government) refused to open their prisons to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
“In the latest round of negotiations between us and the other side in Amman, we agreed to allow the Red Cross to visit all prisons on both sides,” al-Mortadha said in a tweet on Friday night.
But this agreement was also implemented on one side, according to al- Mortadha.
He continued: “We have committed to this while the other party has never committed, and so far they have not allowed the Cross to visit any prison they have.”
The head of the Prisoners’ Affairs Committee, Abdul Qader al-Mortadha held United Nations responsible for the deadlock in the implementation of the Swedish agreements and the Amman negotiations.
“Unfortunately, the United Nations has done nothing about this clear intransigence, ” he concluded.
