Deputy Foreign Minister Hussein al-Ezzi on Monday called on humanitarian organizations to pressure Saudi-led coalition countries to lift the siege on al-Durayhimi district of Hodeidah province and provide assistance to citizens.
During his meeting with Deputy Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Yemen Freya Raddi, al-Ezzi appreciated the existing partnership with the ICRC delegation.
Al-Ezzi expressed his hope for further efforts by the ICRC delegation during the coming period in proportion to the growing humanitarian needs resulting from the aggression and the siege.
He reaffirmed the concerned authorities’ readiness to provide all the necessary facilities for the success of the ICRC delegation activities.
In the meeting, Raddi confirmed the ICRC’s keenness to continue to provide all possible support to Yemen to alleviate the humanitarian crisis experienced by the Yemeni people.
The meeting touched on the ongoing blockade on al-Durayhimi district by the coalition countries and their mercenaries for a year and a half and its catastrophic effects on the district’s residents.
