A 20-year-old Yemeni migrant was killed after being stabbed in the Moria camp on the Greek Island of Lesbos, Greek police said on Friday.
According to Greek police sources, the incident took place on Thursday evening and the migrant was taken to a hospital on the island, but died of his wounds.
Greek police did not give details and motives of the crime, although the incident was the second in less than 10 days, following the announcement of the death of a 31-year-old Iranian immigrant.
The same camp witnessed protests after two migrants, a woman and a child, died at the end of September after a fire broke out.
Migrants in the Moria camp are in very poor conditions as the flow of migrants from the nearby Turkish coast continues, as well as the unsanitary conditions in which some 19,000 migrants live in the camp, which has a capacity of 2,800.
In 2019, Greece was seen as the main entry point for migrants to Europe, with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) saying more than 66,000 migrants arrived in Greece last year, while many drownings were recorded before arriving on the island.
