The death toll from the coronavirus in China has risen to 722, and more than 34.5 thousand infected, Chinese health authorities announced on Saturday.
“Deaths from coronavirus pneumonia have risen to 722, and the number of people infected has risen to more than 34.5 thousand,” China TV quoted the country’s health authorities as saying.
Authorities in China’s Hubei Province today announced that a 699-person death toll from the coronavirus in the province, as well as 24.9 people infected.
“The number of victims in Hubei Province has risen to 699, reaching 24.9,000,” the provincial health ministry said in a statement.
The statement noted that 1.1,000 people have been discharged from hospitals after recovering.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Friday night that his country is ready to provide $100 million to China and other countries hit by the new Corona virus to fight the epidemic.
Earlier, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced that the actions taken by the country’s authorities to control the coronavirus and prevent its spread were positive.
On 31 December, Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization (WHO) of an outbreak of coronavirus in Wuhan city, in the central part of the country.
