The Supreme Council for Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Sana’a on Thursday called for the urgent provision of more than 100 thousand “PCR” tests, 15 PCR examination devices and 250 thousand “SWAB” tests.

The Council made a distress call urgent for all UN organizations to provide necessary medical supplies to combat the Corona virus.

The Council denounced in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Yemen Press Agency, what is being promoted by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen about the lack of sharing of data since the start of government actions to confront Corona.”

The statement considered the statements of OCHA “a disavowal of the humanitarian duty entrusted to the United Nations towards the Yemeni people.”

In its statement, the Council held the United Nations fully responsible for the results of its decisions and declarations that may work to disrupt humanitarian work in Yemen.

The Council’s spokesman Talat al-Sharjabi criticized the performance of some UN employees involved in the management of the humanitarian file in Yemen.

“Some UN workers have moved from managing the humanitarian file to managing the political file,” he said.

Al-Sharjabi described the performance of the Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen Lise Grande as “strange”, and the way she deals with the situation is more like “a political project manager.”

He added, “We receive promises only and nothing is fulfilled, especially with regard to securing basic medical supplies.”
