Foreign Affairs Minister Hisham Sharaf on Saturday sent a congratulatory message to New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta on the occasion of her country’s national day.
New Zealand marks its national day on February 6, also known as Waitangi Day, in which the first signing anniversary on 6 February 1840 of the Treaty of Waitangi, which is regarded as the founding document of the nation.
The first Waitangi Day was not celebrated until 1934, and it was made a national public holiday in 1974.
