The Islamic Radio and Television Union condemned the US administration’s targeting of a group of websites belonging to channels affiliated with the union, based on flimsy pretexts by the US.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the union stressed that the targeting is evidence of the effectiveness of all media efforts made by oppressed nations, despite the lack of true resources in their media institutions.

It added that “the United States uses freedom and human rights to justify its interference in world affairs and then deliberately oppresses the voices that disagree with it. The US is not able to subjugate free nations through its inflammatory and misleading media, and it will not be able to silence them through dictatorship in the media space.”

The statement pointed out that American hegemony over technology will not remain unilateral, and America is the loser from the policy of repression and restriction of freedoms. It also stressed that confronting the irrational and immoral American decision will take place in all possible ways, and “we will quickly return these sites to the virtual space.”

The statement affirmed the union’s insistence to work with greater force in order to achieve the greatest degree of cooperation between media institutions and to continue to stand by the issues and oppressed nations.

The statement also called on all media organizations, institutions and unions to carry out a broad campaign of solidarity and support for the targeted media institutions.
