Deputy Public Authority for Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Raed Jabal, said on Monday that Sana’a International Airport went out service as a result of airstrikes by Saudi-led  aggression coalition warplanes.

Jabal affirmed in a news statement that the airport was providing its navigational services to United Nations planes and international organisations with all professionalism and technical readiness according to the international requirements applicable at international airports, prior to the latest airstrikes.

He stressed that the bombing of the airport is aimed at impeding humanitarian aid provided to the Yemeni people, and at obstructing flights by the UN and its organisations operating in Yemen. By doing this the Saudi-led invaders are ignoring all international covenants and agreements that criminalise the targeting of civilian airports.

Jabal pointed out that the countries of the aggression have been targeting the airport since the first day of the aggression.

He called on the United Nations to take immediate action to stop this systematic targeting of the airport, which will only further impede the movements of UN assets and individuals.
