The United Nations Resident Coordinator, William David Grisley, was briefed on President Saleh Al-Sammad’s digital city in the capital, Sana’a.

Grisley, along with the CEO of the Yemeni Company for Telecommunications “TeleYemen”, Dr. Ali Nassari, inspected the city’s technological units and equipment, all of a civilian nature that serve digital development in Yemen, contrary to what the aggression is promoting about their use for military purposes.

He was also briefed on the damage and destruction of the main building of the Yemeni International Telecommunication Company “TeleYemen” as a result of its targeting by US-Saudi aggression. Grisley heard from Dr. Nassari, an explanation of the extent of the destruction and losses incurred in the main building of the “TeleYemen” company, which contains the technical equipment, and the consequent impact on many vital services and sectors in all regions of the Republic of Yemen. The raids also caused severe damage to the building adjacent to the targeted building.

On January 21, US-Saudi airstrikes targeted the Telecommunications Office in Hodeidah with several raids, which led to the interruption of internet and international Telecommunications in Yemen for several days. Then it was restored with local efforts.

The US-Saudi aggression threatened to target the headquarters of the Yemeni government in a continuation of the recent wave of escalation that mainly affected Yemeni cities and left, according to the Yemeni Ministry of Health, about 500 civilians killed and injured.
