Yemeni air defenses shoot down two spy drone planes

The Yemeni army forces announced on Friday that the air defences shot down two spy reconnaissance planes belongings to Saudi-led coalition forces in Ma’rib and Jawf provinces.

In a brief statement, Army spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e, affirmed that the air defences were able to down a US ScanEagle spy drone, operated by the Saudi Air Forces, while it was carrying out hostile actions over the airspace of al-Jubah district on Friday.

He confirmed that the plane was shot down with a suitable weapon, without giving further details.

A few hours ago, the military spokesmen had already confirmed that the air defences managed to bring down an American MQ-9 military drone, operated by United Arab Emirates Air Force, while it was carrying out hostile actions over the airspace of Jawf province.

He said the drone was down by a locally-made surface-to-air missile of a type which has not yet been revealed to the public.
