The spokesman confirmed that the drone strike accurately hit the target at the airport.
Abha Airport is one of the airports used for military actions against Yemen, he explained.
Sare’e warned all civilians in Saudi Arabia to stay away from military positions.
Earlier in the day, the Air Defences managed to down a Chinese-made CH4 spy drone belonging to the Saudi-led forces, while it was carrying out hostile acts over the airspace of Haradh district.
The drone was targeted with a surface-to-air missile of a type which has not yet been announced to the public, according to the statement.
