The factions of the Transitional Council, which calls for the secession of southern Yemen, have started preparations for after the Riyadh consultations, by securing their weapons outside of the so called “legitimacy”.
Local sources in Aden reported that the council’s factions began transporting various weapons towards the city of Dhale, the most prominent stronghold of the council’s president, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, noting that military convoys including trucks transporting weapons and various equipment and reinforced with strict security protection were seen leaving the “Al-Assafah” camps of Al-Zubaidi in Aden and heading towards Dhale.
It is not yet clear the council’s goal of this step, which may include emptying the so called “interim capital” of weapons, and whether it is a preparation for the stage after the Riyadh consultations, which includes a military aspect that requires the inclusion of all factions and weapons under the ministries of “defense and interior,” which are seized by his opponents in the Islah Party and in the GPC or for other arrangements.
Its coincidence with the escalating liquidation of security and military leaders in Aden indicates that some kind of arrangements are being supervised by the coalition and have become worrying the transitional, who was forced to participate in consultations under the roof of the “Republic of Yemen” and to end his ambition to restore the state in the south.
