Transport Minister reveals return of flights from Sana’a to Cairo

The Minister of Transport, Abdulwahab Al-Durra has on Sunday said that the first civil commercial flight from Sana’a to Cairo and back is scheduled for Next Wednesday, June 1st, according to a confirmation from the UN envoy’s office in Sana’a.

The UN envoy’s office confirmed the first civilian commercial flight from Sana’a to Cairo and back will be on June 1st via Yemenia Airways, the transport minister said in a statement carried out by Yemen News Agency SABA.

He called on the United Nations to double civilian commercial flights to save the lives of patients and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

“Sana’a International Airport can receive all flights and various types and size of aircraft can also take off and land during the evening after a years-long hiatus and despite of the repeated attacks on the airport by Saudi-led coalition forces, he said.

He praised Yemen’s technical teams, who were able to rehabilitate the night lighting system of the main runway during a record period to complete airport readiness to receive all air navigation in accordance with international requirements and conditions and the Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
