A commander in the forces of the UAE-backed Transitional Council seized a fish market owned by a citizen in the city of Aden, southern Yemen.
Sources said that vehicles of the STC support brigades stormed the fish farm in the Buriqa district, west of Aden, owned by the head of the Fishermen’s Association, Abdullah Yahya Abadel, and demolished parts of it without allowing the shop tenants to empty their refrigerators and fish.
Sources pointed out that the soldiers arrested the owner of the farm, and a number of fishermen, after they tried to prevent its demolition.
The commander of the vehicles justified the raid, seizing the market by saying that they were carrying out orders to confiscate and demolish, refusing to mention its source.
The incident aroused the resentment and solidarity of dozens of fishermen who depend on the market to sell what they catch and provide a livelihood for their families.
