Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hisham Sharaf, has on Wednesday discussed in Sana’a with the German Ambassador to Yemen, Hubert Jaeger, the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Yemen and possible ways to deal with the current situation.

In this context, the Foreign Minister affirmed that the Supreme Political Council and the National Salvation Government supported entering into a truce to achieve steps that would address the humanitarian situation and alleviate the suffering of millions of Yemeni people.

Sharaf stressed the importance of working to complete confidence-building measures to reach a peaceful political settlement and sustainable peace.

He pointed out that “it is noticeable that the other side is seeking, through the armistice, to create a state of at the same time no peace and no war, and to keep the humanitarian file on hold without finding permanent solutions.”

The Foreign Minister called on the German government to resume its activity in the capital, Sana’a, confirming its readiness to provide all facilities, privileges and diplomatic immunities.

In turn, the German ambassador affirmed that the situation in Yemen occupies a place in the German foreign policy, indicating that “a peaceful political solution is the only solution to address the humanitarian situation.”
