Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor on Thursday praised the humanitarian effort made by UNICEF, in coordination and partnership with the relevant ministries and government agencies, and its positive impact in alleviating the suffering of citizens.

This came during his meeting in Sana’a with Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF Hanan Suleiman, who is currently visiting Yemen to review the activities of the organization’s office, and to learn about the humanitarian situation.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister noted the importance of the visit in strengthening aspects of the partnership between the government and organization in a number of humanitarian fields related to the repercussions of over seven years of the US-Saudi-Emirati aggression and blockade.

He touched on the crushing humanitarian tragedy, which the Yemeni people have been suffering from since March 2015, and the repercussions of its catastrophic effects in various aspects of their lives, causing the worst humanitarian disaster.

Partnership relations between the Salvation Government and UNICEF during the current period, joint cooperation in the sectors of health, education and social affairs, and ways to enhance and expand the joint work in light of the growing humanitarian needs and requirements of the Yemeni people were discussed in the meeting.

Suleiman confirmed the UNICEF’s keenness to consolidate aspects of its humanitarian interventions to contribute to reducing the suffering of the population in Yemen.

She indicated that the children of Yemen are among the most suffering children in the world, pointing out that the organization seeks to maintain the continuation of the level of funding allocated to Yemen during the coming period to enhance the level of care efforts.
