The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) revealed that about half of the population of Yemen cannot access health services, as a result of the humanitarian crisis resulting from the ongoing war in the country.

The organization  said in a recorded statement by UNICEF Regional Director Adele Khader during her visit to Al-Sadaqa Hospital in Aden that half of the medical facilities in Yemen are out of service.

“More than ten million children and nearly five million women do not have access to health services,” she added.

She stressed that Yemen is in dire need of everyone’s support to ensure that health care reaches every child and mother, wherever he is, stressing that the organization suffers from a funding gap to support the health sector by about $100 million.
