Mohammad Ali Al-Houthi, member of the Supreme Political Council, condemned the criminal incident that targeted worshipers in the Iranian city of Shiraz, which led to the fall of 15 martyrs and about 40 wounded worshipers.
“This heinous incident will increase the unity of the Iranian people in the face of the plans of Iran’s enemies,” Al-Houthi wrote on his Twitter account on Wednesday evening.
More than a dozen people have been killed and several others injured after a heavily-armed terrorist attacked a popular Shia shrine in Iran’s southwestern province of Fars on Wednesday.
The incident took place at around 14:15 GMT on Wednesday just before the evening prayers.
The police commander of Fars province said the attacker opened indiscriminate fire at pilgrims inside the shrine and was himself wounded and arrested by security officials.
Nour News Agency, which is affiliated with Iran’s top security body, said the militant who carried out the attack was a foreign national.
CCTV footage released by local authorities showed the terrorist making his way inside the shrine and opening fire at people present there.
