a foreign company announced the suspension of its oil operations in Yemen.

The Hadrami journalist, Muhammad Saeed Bahaddad, reported that the Canadian Calvali Company announced a state of force majeure in Sector 9 and closed all its fields in the western valley and desert of Hadramout.

The company attributed the suspension to what it described as the deteriorating security situation.

Calvalli is one of several foreign oil companies operating in Yemen, and it is the last company to announce the cessation of its operations, after it was preceded by the rest of the companies that responded to Sana’a’s call to stop looting Yemeni oil.

Calvalli is the largest oil producing company in the Hadhramaut valley and desert. Foreign oil companies have been suffering since oil exports were halted due to Sanaa’s imposition of closing oil ports in eastern Yemen.
