Saudi Arabia expanded the deployment of Sudanese forces on the western coast of Yemen.
This coincides with Egypt’s start of moves there as part of an American mission. Media sources reported that Saudi Arabia has transferred Sudanese forces from their areas of concentration on the western coast of Yemen to Mayon Island.
This is the first time that Sudanese forces have been deployed on the island since Saudi Arabia sought help years ago.
The deployment of Sudanese forces coincided with reports of Egyptian units landing on the island to arrange the establishment of a base with Egypt taking over the command of the joint forces that the United States recently established, indicating Saudi fears of the Egyptian moves.
