Army and Popular Committees Repulse UAE-backed Militia in Shabwa

Army and popular committees forces inflicted losses on the UAE-backed Transitional Council, during clashes and shelling in Shabwa Governorate, southern Yemen.

Sources reported that the Shabwa Defense Forces, backed by artillery shelling, launched an attack on the army and popular committees forces in Aqabat al-Qanza’a, which connects the governorates of Al-Bayda and Shabwa.

The sources confirmed that army and popular committees repulsed the attack of the Shabwa Defense Forces on Aqabat al-Qanatha overlooking the city of Beihan, west of the city of Ataq, the center of Shabwa Governorate, and inflicted deaths and injuries on its members.

The sources noted  that the attack comes in an attempt to thwart the ongoing discussions between the Sana’a government and Saudi Arabia, under Omani sponsorship, to stop the war waged by the Riyadh-led coalition against Yemen for the eighth year in a row.
