Ministry of Fisheries in Sana’a condemned on Thursday the attacks on fishermen by Emirati forces and militias of the so-called security belt in Abyan province, south of Yemen.

The ministry said in a statement those armed factions terrorized the fishermen by firing live bullets and expelled them from the landing center in Abyan, in a way that reflects the level of criminality they practice against the fishermen.

The statement confirmed the involvement of the militias of the so-called security belt and Emirati forces by converting the fish landing center in Khanfar district into a military barracks for the benefit of the American and British forces, and depriving thousands of fishermen from their source of livelihood and displacing them to other fishing areas in Abyan, Aden and Shabwa.

It pointed out that the Emirati forces and their tools expelled the fishermen and prevented them from approaching the center, which was surrounded with a number of bulldozers and military crews that took the building as a headquarters for the hostile occupation forces.

The ministry affirmed that this step came in the context of the UAE’s expansionist ambitions to control the areas overlooking the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden, the southern regions of the Red Sea, and the northern Indian Ocean.

It called on the international community, the United Nations and human rights organizations to take a firm stand and put pressure on the UAE forces to evacuate the fish landing center.
