The Kingdom of Jordan prevented Yemeni patients from entering its lands by imposing impossible procedures and conditions, in a step that would exacerbate the suffering caused by the blockade imposed by the Saudi-led coalition.
The Jordanian Minister of Interior directed his country’s authorities to address Yemeni Airlines and other air carriers to adopt new procedures for the entry of Yemeni patients and their companions to Jordan for treatment, including carrying medical reports issued by Jordanian hospitals, and obtaining approval for male travelers within the age group (15-50) years.
The conditions also included that passengers obtain round-trip tickets, and only passengers with arrival tickets are denied entry.
The new Jordanian measures would impede the travel of Yemeni patients through Sana’a International Airport, given that its flights are limited to one destination, which is Sana’a-Amman and back only.
Observers considered that the step was taken at the behest of Saudi Arabia to provoke the Sana’a government by tightening the siege on patients traveling through Sana’a International Airport, as they are affected by the Jordanian measures, especially since flights through Aden Airport are open to India, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Djibouti.
