The Ministry of Education held a press conference, Saturday, in Sana’a on the occasion of the anniversary of the National Day of Resilience, entitled “Education in Yemen, eight years of steadfastness in the face of aggression.”
At the conference, the Undersecretary of the Education Sector, Abdullah Al-Na’ami, praised the greatness of the Yemeni people and their steadfastness in the face of aggression.
He pointed the empowerment achieved for the Yemeni people during the eight years of aggression and the victories it achieved in various fields, referring to the ministry’s efforts to modernize and develop the educational process.
Al- Na’ami pointed out that the systematic and brutal aggression targeted the educational process in order to obstruct and stop it, which resulted in the martyrdom of hundreds of educational staff and our students, in addition to the destruction of thousands of schools and educational facilities, which is forbidden by all heavenly religions and worldly laws.
The Undersecretary of the Projects and Equipment Sector, Sadiq Al-Rasha, reviewed a detailed statistic of the destroyed and damaged schools and educational facilities in all governorates of the Republic, and the effects of this on the workforce and students.
He pointed that the total number of destroyed and damaged schools and educational facilities, by the aggression, amounted to 3768 schools and educational facilities, with a number of students of one million and 926 thousand and 239 students, of which 435 were completely destroyed. In addition to hundreds of students and educational staff were killed, and more than 196,197 teachers were affected by the interruption of their salaries.
He mentioned that the total number of educational facilities that have been rebuilt and restored has reached 384, including 19 completely destroyed facilities that have been rebuilt.
