The Transport Syndicate in Aden, southern Yemen, has called on the leaders of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia to stop the levies and royalties imposed on truck drivers.

The syndicate submitted a protest note to the governor of Aden affiliated with the STC, stating that the Transport Affairs Regulatory Authority does not provide any service to drivers other than illegal collections of 100,000 riyals for each truck.

The STC militia in Aden imposed levies on trucks at Al-Alam and Ras Amran points under the name of traffic violations without supplying them to the bank’s treasury in Aden, according to the syndicate.

The syndicate explained that the exorbitant levies have exhausted the drivers, calling on the STC leaders to prevent illegal levies.
