The Supreme Council for Higher Education, led by Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor, met on Saturday to discuss ways to strengthen higher education and scientific research, as well as improve academic accreditation standards at all Yemeni universities.
The Council approved the general report of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research during the period 2020-2023, and the recommendations attached to it.
The report highlighted the most notable achievements in this sector in the institutional, educational, academic, scientific, and research fields, in light of the expansion in the opening of public and private colleges and universities, as well as in educational programs, in conjunction with activating and strengthening the role of the Academic Accreditation Council in evaluation.
The report reviewed the progress made in the field of the national vision for building the state in relation to the higher education sector.
During its meeting, the Council endorsed the Ministry’s proposal to qualify university affiliates as teaching assistants and teachers to offset the shortage of faculty members in public and private universities.
It also approved the absorptive capacity for the next academic year, taking into account the exceptional situation and circumstances of the country.
