The National Center of Meteorology issued a new warning on Saturday to the population in nine Yemeni provinces to avoid the dangers of torrents and rockslides due to heavy rains.

In its weather bulletin today, the center expected heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms in the province of the Socotra archipelago, especially the southern and eastern parts of it, as well as in parts of the provinces of Lahj, Dhalea, Bayda, Abyan, Taiz, Raymah, Ibb, and Dhamar.

The center also predicted occasional rain, perhaps accompanied by thunder, in portions of Saada, Amran, Sana’a, Shabwa, Hajjah, Mahweet, Hodeida, Hadramout, and Mahra provinces, as well as sections of the southern and eastern coasts and nearby interior areas.

The Meteorology Center advised residents in regions of severe rainfall to avoid torrential passageways and valleys and to avoid crossing them during and after the rains, warning of the noticeable decrease in the range of horizontal visibility on mountain roads during rain and fog and of rockslides and mudslides during the flow of torrents.
