Advisor to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sanaa government, Ahmed Al-Imad, received on Saturday the credentials of the new representative of the World Health Organization to Yemen, Arturo Pesigan.

In the meeting, Al-Imad welcomed Pesigan as the new representative of the WHO in Yemen, expressing hope that Pesigan’s appointment would contribute to strengthening cooperation and coordination between Yemen and the organization, which would serve the Yemeni people.

Al-Imad stressed that the Sanaa government will provide possible facilities to the WHO official, despite the fact that the war against Yemen has destroyed most of the health sectors.

He expressed hope that the WHO will continue to support the health sector and bridge the gap between the current situation and humanitarian needs, and work on the need to change society’s perception of the organization by working on important priorities and meeting the basic needs of society.

For his part, the WHO’s official praised facilities made by Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the WHO’s representatives, conveying the greetings of the Director-General of the Organization and the Regional Director, Ahmed Al-Mandhari.
