A senior official at the Central Bank of Yemen in Aden sought asylum in the United States, which he had recently arrived after the catastrophic collapse of the local currency.
Sources said that the general manager of the accounts, Yasser Al-Qabati, immigrated to the United States in secret and requested asylum there.
It indicated that Al-Qubati is considered one of the most prominent officials in the bank, who established the bank after it was transferred from Sana’a in 2017.
The sources indicated that the American side provided facilities for the aforementioned travel to the United States, despite the restrictions imposed by the American authorities on the Yemenis.
